    Our Legacy and Story

About Ennis Fine Furniture in Boise, Idaho

Ennis Fine Furniture has a long history of family, community, and quality customer care. In 1946, the founder, Cecil Ennis, and his brother-in-law came home from World War II and took a leap of faith. Selling everything they had, they purchased an existing building that use to be, at one time, a humble horse stable on the outskirts of Boise at 23rd St and Fairview Ave. Cecil and his brother-in-law remodeled the stable and started to sell furniture and appliances.

  • A Family Legacy That Lives On

After a while, Cecil’s brother-in-law left the business in Cecil's hands. With hard work and dedication, he grew Ennis Fine Furniture into a trusted name in the community. Cecil passed the store down to his son, Dick Ennis, in 1968. Dick then expanded and now there are two thriving locations: Boise, ID, and Spokane, WA.
Today, Cecil’s grandchildren- Rick, Jeff, and Cathy- continue the legacy, carrying forward the same values of quality, craftsmanship, and customer care that have been at the heart of Ennis Fine Furniture for nearly eight decades. What started as a small furniture store has now evolved into a premier destination for semi-custom and luxury furnishings, helping homeowners across the Northwest create spaces filled with elegance and timeless charm.

  • Deeply Rooted in Community & Craftsmanship

The Ennis family has always been deeply woven into the fabric of the Northwest, even before opening the furniture store. Cecil’s father was the first railroad conductor in Boise, which opened in 1925, and Cecil, born in Spokane, played his saxophone during the big band era. His family is still very connected and involved in both locations.
